Welcome to D20 Training

According to the Notes app on my phone, it was February 21, 2026.

I was having a very standard Saturday evening. It was getting late and I had been playing Baldur’s Gate 3 for the last few hours. I was leveling up a character (Mama K herself, Karlach) and, because I had reached the slap-happy level of tiredness, I started to make myself laugh. Out-loud. While leveling up Karlach, I had said, “Okay, let’s build a barb.” Referring, of course, to the colloquialism in RPG gaming of a character’s features and stats being referred to as its “build.”

However...

Because my brain enjoys going for walks on silly tangents, I started to think, “Huh… How would you build a barb? It would take a lot of muscles, so like… a lot of protein. And lifting…”

I immediately picked up my phone and started brain dumping.

Like any good game master (or actual crazy person), I spent the next few weeks narrowing down my scope, strategizing, planning, and preparing. I narrowed down the classes I wanted to create workouts for, decided on what the adventure would look like, designed the gameplay for combat, and, before I knew it, I had created 18 unique workout programs. By the end of March, I was ready for playtesters.

On March 30, 5 adventurers set off on the first campaign of D20 Training, The Adventure of Barbellia! Two barbarians, a rogue, a wizard, and a fighter.

All of April and May I spent building the rest of D20 Training as you see it today. This has been a joy to create and I hope, if nothing else, it makes working out feel a bit more whimsical and fun for at least one adventurer.

I’m so happy to finally invite new adventurers to Barbellia.

The first party in the Adventure of Barbellia is entering their final campaign block today!

Keep an eye on my social media for updates and current adventurer reviews directly from Barbellia as they roll in! And, keep an eye out in this blog for training tips, updates, my random thoughts, and more.
